Changes to the Board of Trustees
ROLES:The three main Officers of the Trust are the Chair, the Secretary, and the Treasurer. Our Chair, Pam Stirling, will have been in post for nine years in November 2018. Robert Vowles, our Treasurer, has ten years of service, while Tom Lindsay, our Secretary, is five years into his term.
Both the Chair and the Treasurer have announced their intention to step down at the end of 2018, while the Secretary expressed his intention to continue for a further two years, after which he would continue as a Trustee. Thus in the near future there will be a complete changing of the guard.
The Trustees considered ways of enabling continuity during such a significant change of personnel. A new role of Associate has been created, which would enable the Trust to draw on the experience of past Trustees, while relieving them of formal obligations.
For example, Michael Vizard, whom many will have known as Course Director, a role that he filled with distinction over the past ten years, and who has been a Trustee for 22 years(!), also announced his intention to stand down as a Trustee, and welcomed the possibility of continuing to be of help in the role of Associate.
The trustees are also looking into the possibility of enabling those interested to serve as Vice Chair, or Treasurer, for a period while learning the ropes.
The search is now on to find people with the right experience and capabilities to take on these challenging roles.
